The words ‘’Hardcore Gamer’’ get pushed around alot these days but what does it actually mean? It means different things to alot of different people but what does it mean to me? And what should it mean to you?

 

To be honest everyone has their own opinion of what a ‘’Hardcore Gamer’’ is. Some people believe that there is no such thing as a hardcore gamer and that the word shouldn’t even be used. Most people would say that you are just passionate about gaming like football supporters are passionate about the game.

 

Your definition of a ‘’Hardcore Gamer’’ could be someone who indeed is very passionate about gaming, someone who spends all their time playing games, constantly thinks about games. The hardcore gamer could be someone who will spent most there money on gaming, buying all the limited edition copies of that game, buys lots of merchandise and someone who spends alot of their time visiting various videogame websites looking for the latest news on new games coming out in the future.

 

The hardcore gamer may also spend alot of their free time on forums for various video game communities. In fact gaming is one of the most social means of entertainment; Forums are a great place to talk to likeminded fellow gamers. 

 

Is there such a thing as a Hardcore Gamer? Or are we all just gamers? Is the person who only has a Playstation 3 for FIFA a Hardcore gamer? Is the person who plays the Nintendo Wii every now and again a Hardcore Gamer? There are alot of questions that can contain many answers.

 

Yes all these people are gamers but as with anything there are people who are more passionate about it than others.  For example the person who owns all systems and owns most the games for all systems could be classed as a Hardcore Gamer but in my opinion they just enjoy gaming more than most people. But what if you throw into the equation someone who owns all systems and writes a blog about the games they play? Could they be thrown into the ‘’Hardcore Gamer’’ bracket?

 

Could a ‘’Hardcore Gamer’’ be someone who loves gaming on certain platform and strives to achieve the most gamerscore? Be the best online on Call of Duty?

 

I will let you decide for yourselves what a hardcore gamer is. Personally I think that people just use the word ‘’Hardcore Gamer’’ to make themselves look better in front of other people but there is alot of different types of gamers out there from your console gamer enthusiast to your Farmville social gamer on facebook. No different gamer is better than the other they are just different and that is what makes us all great and unique.

If we all liked the same games there would be no innovation in the industry. Just imagine a world where there was only one type of game?
