Dragon Age: Futures – Delayed DLC And Expansion To Come Soon!

The downloadable content, ‘Return to Ostagar’ which was set for release on the Xbox 360 on the 5th January has been delayed. The reason for the delay? We don’t quite know… The Community Manager at BioWare, Chris Priestly posted on their official forums earlier with this to say:

“We’re sorry but the planned Return to Ostagar downloadable content scheduled to launch on January 5th has been delayed for all platforms,”. He then went on to say “We will update you as new information becomes available.”

Fans are furious but hopefully we wont have too long to wait. The content was to be released on Playstation 3 later this month, so my guess is, we’ll see ours then.

On to the brighter side of Dragon Age news, BioWare have announced the first official expansion pack for the game. The pack will be called ‘Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening’. The games content would involve new party members, abilities, spells and a new land called Amaranthine.

“Designed and written by the same team that brought you Dragon Age: Origins, the Awakening expansion pack offers a brand new area of the world to explore known as Amaranthine, featuring an epic story that will allow players to unravel the secrets of the darkspawn – and their true motivations! Players will face a range of horrific and terrifying creatures including an evolved, intelligent breed of darkspawn and other menacing creatures such as the Inferno Golem and Spectral Dragon. Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening provides exciting new ways for players to customize their heroes and party, including the ability to re-spec their character attributes, allowing even greater customization and replayability. Featuring an increased level cap, new spells, abilities, specializations and items, plus five all-new party members, players can continue their adventures from Dragon Age: Origins, or begin with a brand new character.”

“Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening shows BioWare’s commitment to our fans by delivering new story-driven experiences which enrich the dark heroic fantasy universe our fans have come to know and love,” said the Group General Manager of EA, and Co-Founder, BioWare, Dr. Ray Muzyka. “The vibrant worldwide community of Dragon Age fans will relish uncovering the secret motivations of the darkspawn, revealing how the darkspawn continue to infest the world despite the defeat of the Archdemon.”

The game focuses around the remaining Grey Warden’s and their attempt to rebuilt the once legendary order. Players can expect more moral choices, more exciting stories and a heck of a lot more darkspawn.

The expansion pack is set for release on March 16th 2010 on the PC, X box 360 and Playstation 3 for $39.99. I would work out the rate for Brits but lets face it, the pound isn’t exactly stable.

Bring on the Origins.

Coincidence that an expansion has been announced as the DLC was cancelled?
I smell another Left 4 dead here.

The most annoying thing about the expansion is the release date! It’s just to close to FFXIII for my liking…

  • Vietnoboy

Meh, this game can wait for FF. By the time you’re done with FF, the expansion will be a tad cheaper, I on the other hand will enjoy this.

  • AdamnessX

I thought of that also. We have the same plan. (y)

    Great minds think alike.
