Dara O’Briain to host Video Games Awards

“Irish comedian Dara O’Briain has been confirmed as the host of this year’s GAME-sponsored British Academy Video Games Awards, which will honour 2009′s greatest titles.



The Mock the Week host is one of UK TV’s best-known faces and will be MCing the prestigious event at London’s Park Lane Hilton hotel for the second year in a row.



Nominations for this year’s awards are to be announced on February 16th 2010, with the winners to be named at the gala event itself on March 19th.



O’Briain, who is an avid gamer himself, expressed delight at being asked to host the GAME Bafta awards once again.



He said: “It’s an honour to acclaim the very real people whose creativity, innovation and wit produce such amazing virtual worlds.”



A number of top games will be in with a chance of being honoured with awards this year, such as the blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, whose predecessor Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won the user-voted GAME Award of 2008 last time around.“
