Microsoft has stated its intent to discontinue Xbox Live service on the original Xbox console on April 15, 2010. The announcement comes in the form of a blog post addressed to Live members from Xbox Live’s general manager, Marc Whitten.

22 hours and 15 minutes is how long it took me to complete Mass Effect 2′s main story line whilst completing a big helping of side quests. Figures just released by the Forecasting and Analysing Digital Entertainment (FADE) show the enormous amount of cash that Microsoft has been raking in from the Xbox Live Arcade. In total they estiamte that the service has brought in $103.4 million (£834,000) during 2009. They have also released a list of the top ten selling Arcade games of last year:

“Irish comedian Dara O’Briain has been confirmed as the host of this year’s GAME-sponsored British Academy Video Games Awards, which will honour 2009′s greatest titles.
