This years Tiger Woods boasts the addition of The Ryder Cup as well as many other little tweaks such as the focus system that help keeps EAs most recent addition of Tiger Woods both fresh and significantly different from last year (much like Tiger’s personal life).

As Tiger Woods 10 was such a great game it was hard pressed to see what EA could come up with to justify forking out for this years installment, however somehow they seemed to have achieved it. With the introduction of the focus system EA have brilliantly forced players to think carefully about user controlled actions and aids such as putt preview and after shot spin (much to webby’s dismay). This is further boosted by the true-aim or what I like to call the Hardcore mode (In COD terms). True Aim takes away the fly-by view and the aiming assists, this forces players to judge their shots and the greens just like a player would have to out on the course and is a welcome addition for the more experienced golfers. Another re-vamp on this years version has centered around your characters XP system. Now everyone loves a good character level up and in Tiger Woods this is no exception, to improve your player you need to play through the season or try your hand at the more lucrative, in XP terms, skill challenge. The XP update is a welcome improvement and adds many hours of replay value

Now for the negatives… EAs ridiculous £10 online thing. Now for me this wasn’t a problem as I bought the game, however for those renters and second hand buyers out there you are going to have to fork out the £10 to play this game online effectively rendering it a single player game as the online community on this game in no way justifies forking out the £10. There has been little addition to the online section of this game other than the 12 vs 12 tournament mode in the Ryder Cup which I have yet to try because I have been having so much fun building up my characters attributes on the single player. The only other thing I can fault this game on is some of the dodgy camera angles, where sometimes I could not see my guy putting as the stands obscured my view or sometimes after hitting a shot you cannot see where your ball has gone until you next shot.
Despite the £10 facade Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, to use its full (rather wordy) name is a very good game and well worth the £25 new I paid for it, however, renters or second hand buyers may find their experience ruined by the EA cash-squeezer. So if you can find a bargain price to buy it new (such as on thehut.com) and have any interest in golf I would suggest you pick up this game, if you haven’t already that is.
Rent or Buy: If you only want the single player experience rent (whilst fighting big corporate greed), if not Buy.
