Retro Section

[21 Jun 2012 | Mark Webb | 7 Comments]

The crew at 360G have decided to start a Retro section on the site and podcast. The retro scene in the UK and indeed the world is now becoming increasingly popular with us oldies wanting to relive our youth and start retro gaming collections.

I am going to go back and play through my PS1 RPG collection and write up reviews on Final Fantasy 7,8,9, Grandia, Breath of Fire 3 and Alundra.

I have compiled a list of other RPG’s for the PS1 which I wish to review but do not have them in my collection so I might try ebay and purchase some of them to review if they are a decent price. If any of you guys can help here is my list

1. Tales of Destiny

2. Chrono Cross

3. Legend of Dragoon

4. Valkyrie Profile

5. Suikoden

6. Xenogears

7. Star ocean

8. Vagrant Story

9. Legend of mana

10. Dragon Warrior VII

11. Breath of Fire 4

12. Wild Arms 2

13. Final Fantasy Tactics

14. Legend of Legaia

15. Thousand Arms

16. Vanguard Bandits

17. Suikoden 2

I am also looking for people from the community and podcast crew to also write up some retro reviews about anything old skool. It could be about your favorite experience as kid playing you NES or a review on Alex Kidd. I’m also looking for someone who could maybe even do some video content so if you are interested then please contact me on twitter @Webby317 or email me at webby317@360gamercast.com

The end goal is to have everything from the Commodore 64, Atari, NES, SNES, Mega Drive (Genesis), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox etc……………………….

Great idea, The only thing that slightly saddens me when i look at those titles is that back in those days Japanese developers really were on the top of their game, Look at them today either making fantastic games that are relatively overlooked or trying too hard to make games for a western audience, Square, Capcom, Konami i salute you for giving me years of gaming joy in my youth, And will continue to support you as you continue to make games.

P.S can’t believe i forgot about Vagrant Story, Great game

great idea , must have most of the console`s on the list that and over 2k in games and will add as much input as you like or want from me

Japanese developers were indeed on top of their game back in the day and no RPG this generation has really come close (Except for Tales of Vesperia) Most RPGs now are too western and I think that is a real shame because JRPG’s have always been proud to have amazing stories that spark the imagination

So is Tales of Vesperia really that good? (Had it since day one but still yet to play it) Think i’ll give it a go when the gaming drought kicks in.

Have Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean & Last Remnant too (Also never played)

Tales of Vesperia is one of the greatest JRPG’s I have ever played and it shows because it sells for well over £100 on ebay and amazon. It graphically holds up really well due to its Anime art style :-)

My brother found today Tales of Vesperia at 10 €. I asked him to buy it but the game was gone :-( .

I think I am going to make this summer vacations a JRPG special – Lost Odissey, Star Ocean and FF XIII’s
